2 Days Itinerary for Bangkok City

Bangkok City

From Airport to City:

A1 Don Muang Airport - Mochit BTS - Mochit 2 / Northeastern Bus Terminal
A2 Don Muang Airport - Mochit BTS - Saphan Kwai BTS - Ari BTS - Sanam Pao BTS - Victory Monument
A3 Don Muang Airport - Ratchadamri BTS
A4 Don Muang Airport - Ban Phra Athit - Sanamluang Bus Terminal
I stayed near Khao San Road near the Chao Praya River, so I took an A4 bus(AC Bus). Depending on the Area you stay you can take the buses above. Bangkok is well connected with Metro, Bus, and Train so you don’t need a Tuk Tuk that will cost twice the price compared to other means of transport. Tuk Tuk drivers will loot you as you are a tourist. Buses are the best as most of them are air-conditioned. Traveling by bus would cost you 6.50thb to 13thb while in Tuk Tuk or Motor Bike taxi will cost 100THB to 200THB for the same. Another convenient way is to Download the Grab app and book Taxi or Bike on the App. The minimum fare starts from 35 for Grab Bike.

Places I Stayed in:
Matchanu River Hostel: 240THB/night for Capsule Air Con.
It’s a Pretty good and budget place. Capsule with air con. The owner was nice to give me a spare room as my room was not available for an early check-in. It's above the flower market so you can take a walk through the market which is flowery, and the feeling is pretty good. Opposite to the hostel is river Chao Praya so you can sit in your hostel and have dinner with a river view. You might think with the market around, the place might be noisy, but it was rather very quiet, and I had a great sleep may it be a nap or a full-fledged 8-hour sleep. Breakfast includes Bread Butter Jam and Cornflakes. Make sure you include breakfast in your booking else you might need to walk some distance for good breakfast. You can walk a bit and find better food stalls on the streets over the other side of the bridge.

There will be an indication of a ferry from Yodiman Pier next to the Hostel on your Google map which isn't right. The pier is dedicated to the Cruise. The hostel is at a Walking distance from Grand Palace, Buddhist Temple, Wat Arun, Khao San Road China Town and many other tourist attractions.

Don't go to Grand Palace, it will cost you 500THB which I feel is a complete waste unless you are an architecture fanatic. You can instead go to Wat Arun that will cost you 4THB + 4THB for round Ferry from Tha Tien and 50THB for the entry. You can go to the pier either on a Grab bike or Walk.

Go to Wat Pho, right opposite to the Tha Tien pier you will find the Wat Pho Temple with 46-meter gold plated reclining Budha and the birthplace of Thai Medicine. Entry is 50 baht with a free water bottle. Also, you can borrow robes to cover yourself before entering the temple. Thai Massage costs  260THB for 30 mins and 420THB for 1 hour. Foot massage costs 280THB and 420THB and Oil Massage costs 620THB. You don't have to take your clothes off for a traditional Thai massage so you should wear something loose-fitting and comfortable if you opt for the body massage. If you aren’t wearing something suitable, you will normally be given Thai-style fisherman’s pants to change into in privacy. The rates are pretty high at Wat Pho so you can instead go to a Tripadvisor approved massage parlor and get Oil Massage for 350, Foot Massage for 200, Thai Massage for 250. The price varies from parlor to parlor.

You can head to China town by bus or Walk from the hostel as its about 1.6 km. Chinatown has a few overpriced stalls and some cheap ones. The one I had been to, was at the starting of the street and price ranged from 40THB to 300THB. You find all kinds of seafood so basically, you can go crazy if you are seafood lover like me. There is a temple Wat Traimit at the entrance of China Town near China Gate which has world's largest massive gold seated Sukhothai Buddha measuring nearly five meters in height and weighing five and a half tons. The entry fee to this place is 40THB. It has the First floor for the sacred ceremony and fortune. 2nd floor is Chinatown Museum, 3rd Floor is the Gold Past Records Museum. 4th floor is the largest gold monk in the world.

Urban Hostel Bangkok: 202THB/night for a room in a mixed dormitory with 14 bed
This place is close to the Hua Lumphong Metro so just a 10 minutes’ walk to Metro and travel is a piece of Cake. You get a direct bus to MBK center and Platinum mall, Khaosan Road, Sky Bar from this place. They charge from 80THB to 150 THB for breakfast which is too much when you convert to INR. My alternative was this woman who came in the Morning near the hostel road and sold 3 slice Bread/Butter Sandwich for 20 THB. The place has got laundry shops around with washing machine, you can get clothes washed for 30 to 40THB. The Hostel is very clean, and the dormitory was quiet. You can leave your luggage at the hostel for free for 3 days.
MBK Mall is one of the famous malls in Bangkok but if you are looking for cheap clothes then this is not exactly the place for you. The prices for which you get clothes here you can get it even in India. You can try out the stalls outside the mall. You might get clothes for a better price compared to the mall. You can find Puma, Flying machine sale but it doesn’t make sense as buying something for 2500THB is like buying for 5300Rs.
You can walk a bit and you will come across Central World and Platinum Mall and while you are walking you will find a lot of small stalls by the road where you can buy some good clothes. Platinum mall is much cheaper compared to MBK. The price goes like 100THB,150THB,200THB. There is a skywalk to the other end of the road from the Platinum mall and as soon as you get down you will see a small market on a cross road. It has a great sale, clothes that you would find for 250THB in stalls outside mall you will find it for 100THB here. Yes, that’s the big difference. The more you explore the more you find better markets.
Ratchada Night Market is also a good place to shop and eat. You can take a Metro to Thailand Cultural Centre and you will find the market right next to it. Khaosan Road is also another attraction for shopping and party. You can find many massage parlors on Khaosan Road and if you aren’t sure which one to go to you can always look for a Trip Advisor Certified parlor.

Sky Bar, Location of a scene from Hangover Part 2 the movie. Excellent view of the city. The dress code is very strict with no denim, flip-flop and no shorts. Entrance to the Sky Bar was regulated. Extremely high priced drinks. Unless you have a big budget this is not a place for you. You cannot use selfie sticks here to click pictures and once you enter the place you will definitely have to buy a drink and they will try to sell you the most priced cocktails. If you are willing to spend 1500rs to 2000 just on a drink for the view the place offers then you can go for it.
Talin Chan Floating Market and Klong Lat Mayom Floating Market are about 15 to 20 KM from both the Hostels and you can either take a cab or bus combo to reach this place. Cab ride can be expensive if you are going solo so you will need to take the bus alternative that will take 1 to 2 hours to reach the place.
